Can Slippers Be Used as Khuffs?

Question: Assalam alaykum

Can slippers be used as khuffs?

They’re indoor footwear and never worn outside.

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

If the slippers fulfil the conditions of valid footgear (khuffs), then this would be permitted.

Some of the conditions are as follows:

(1) they should cover the ankles,

(2) you should have the ability to walk three to four miles in them without tearing, and

(3) water does not penetrate through to the foot immediately upon wiping.

And Allah alone gives success.
