Is It Permitted to Make up the Sunna Prayer of Asr After the Asr Prayer?

Question: I have prayed the four cycles of supererogatory prayer to be performed before the Asr prayer after the Asr prayer because I have forgotten them. Is it permitted?

Answer: wa `alaykum assalam

The sunna prayers technically have no make-up. However, if you want to pray four cycles of supererogatory prayers with the intention of doing so due to the fact that you missed the supererogatory prayer of Asr you may do so.

As you have mentioned, however, in the Hanafi school it is disliked to perform a supererogatory prayer after the obligatory Asr prayer. Therefore, if you do decide to act upon what I have mentioned, you should do so during a time in which performing supererogatory prayers are permitted without dislike.
