Do I Need to Make Up My Missed Fasts before Next Ramadan?

Question

I missed three fasts in the month of Ramadan due to masturbation. Do I need to make up for my missed fasts before the next Ramadan?

Answer

No, it is not a condition of validity to make up your missed fasts (qada’) before the subsequent Ramadan. Similarly, there is no expiation for such a delay.

However, it is generally wise and proper to take care of religious duties as soon as reasonably possible, as long as you don’t have a genuine excuse to do the contrary. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]
